Zac Posen SS 2012

The previous three days of New York Fashion Week have shown us urban chic (Jason Wu) casual at it's most extreme (Alexander Wang) and some of the most beautiful day to night gowns (DVF/Victoria Beckham) but Zac Posen has gone one better, all out Hollywood Glamour.

His was a collection which oozed femininity, dresses were sculpted with a heavy 40's influence, low necklines, emphasis on the waist, ruffles and elegant prints.   There were skirt suits in strong yet in no way over the top colours, showing that this collection was for the powerful woman who is not afraid to make snap decisions.

His evening gowns would not look out of place at the Oscar's nor any other prestigious event and the colours had that kind effect where your mouth is simply left agape at the sight of them.  They spoke of the kind of elegance and sophistication that is hard to pull of, but when done successfully, the overall look is nothing short of showstopping.

My favourite outfits of this collection were two of the most stunning gowns of the evening, both fitted with corsets to allow for that stunning hourglass effect and creating envious curves.  Posen accessorised these dresses perfectly with jewelled necklaces and carefully styled hair.

For his finale, the dresses Zac went for were just utterly fabulous.  Simple strapless dresses that expanded at the base of the skirt to create a fishtail effect out of layered tulle.  This show is going to be a hard act to follow.
