The Mulberry Cara Delevingne Collection

It was announced earlier in the week that girl of the moment Cara Delevingne had teamed up with British brand Mulberry to launch an exciting new collection and today the results of said collection were unveiled during a photo all at Claridges hotel.

The collection offers us a versatile bag that comes in three sizes and three finishes as well as being one that can be worn as either a rucksack, on the shoulder or held by hand. Each bag includes the models own personal touch such as 'Made in England' printed at the bottom of every bag aswell as a small lion river and heart shaped patch inside the bag ( references to Delevingne's own tattoos).

Previously the face of the brands last two collections this marks Mulberrys first collaboration since that of Lana Del Ray in 2012 and comes at a time when the brand are aiming to change their aesthetic from 'affordable luxury' to more upmarket. Prices vary from £890 to £2500.

Steal her Style: Poppy Delevingne

She may not be the biggest headlining Delevingne, but it would serve us all well to remember that Cara's big sis Poppy has actually been on the scene a lot longer than the Burberry model and, let's face it, she is just as stylish than her younger counterpart.

Whilst Cara's style screams attention seeker just like her behaviour, Poppy has somewhat of a more casual yet sophisticated style something that she proved perfectly when stepping out earlier this week in this blazer, courtesy of H&M.  What's that you ask?  A model and socialite of this calibre in a high street brand?  Why yes my lovelies, even the wealthy fashionista loves a bargain, but then again at £34.99 who wouldn't?

LFW: Burberry Prorsum

Fashion doesn't get much more British than Burberry, apt then, that the theme of the SS14 Burberry Prorsum collection was 'English Rose'.  A much more relaxed offering than normal, the collection began with a range of pencil skirt/shirt combos in pastel shades of pink, lilac, blue and green and in laser cut detail.  The whole mood of the show was, to begin with, calm and understated, with only slight hints of high end fashion visible in the form of the high splits in front of skirt and the obvious need to leave the lining of garments on the atelier floor.  Models wore cashmere sweaters in shades of grey and white before we were introduced to this years equivalent of the hearts - big polka dots.  Let us not forget the iconic trench, this season worn loose and oversized.

All very un-Burberry as compared to the past few seasons, that is until the final segment of the show where the garments came out adorned by sparkly brooches - dresses were held up by one strap of them, skirts were all but made from them and even Cara's rain coat was made entirely unsuitable for its main purpose by them.  Well, they do say save the best till last.

LFW: Mulberry

  4

Theme:  With a layout consisting of astro turf and columns lain with daisies, Madness' 'Our House' playing throughout the show and Winston Churchills voiceover at the start Mulberry are still proving they are key players in the British fashion industry.

Palette:  Beginning with grey and white, runway soon introduced some of SS14's much loves 70's prints in bright orange.

Accessories: Adding twists to their classic bags we saw the 'Willow' with flower detailing and 'Alexa' in bright orange.  70's style chunky heels were worn in multiple colours, most memorably the orange floral printed heels.

Key Look:  Look 4 was a personal favourite, not only for the cutest accessory known to man but the simplicity of the outfit.  Both the jacket and dress were stunning on their own but together a new dimension was created and a power outfit was worn.

Review:  A bittersweet show for the British brand today as it marks the last collection of creative director Emma Hill, who officially steps down from her role tomorrow, the women who made the brand the worldwide phenomena it has become the past 5 years.  The collection retained many of the brands famous signatures with the co ordination of pieces taking precedence.

Silk pyjama suits were shown in multiple forms, there were cullotes, jacquard jackets, house coats and even a leather boob tube.  Critiques have already dismissed the collection for lacking the usual Mulberry 'must have or die quality', something which I feel is no bad thing (with the exception of the garish orange 70's print which I would rather just ignore).  Whilst it girls may not be clamouring over themselves for this collection, a rest of us might actually get a look in to by a true piece of iconic British fashion.

Tyra takes over...

Tyra Banks, an all round messiah of fashion who helps mould the future faces of our catwalk has again proved just how amazing she is by releasing a number of images via her Twitter account showing her taking on the persona of some of the most famous models of our time.  The pictures, which include shots of Tyra as Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista, are - amazingly - un retouched and are presumably part of a shoot for the latest ANTM cycle.

The Harvard graduate has promised a total of 15 photos, stating that 15 is a number special to her because it is the age she started modelling.  They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

See if you can guess which model Tyra is impersonating.

NYFW: Marc Jacobs

  33

Theme:  A post apocalyptic beach, complete with the Jaws theme song playing in the background.

Palette:  Dark and ominous.

Beauty:  Models donned short, straw like blonde bobs.

Key Look:

Review:  The mood inside echoed that of the streets of New York.  Marc Jacobs is nothing if not an artist, a visionary if you will and his latest catwalk offering was no exception.  Models stormed the runway in an array of garments, from matador jackets to Victorian style dresses.  Can you see your average fashionista wearing it?  No, but that's not the point of a Marc Jacobs show, the clothes were luxurious in their own (dark and dramatic way) and, reworked, we're sure we'll see certain starlets attempting to make them their own.  Side note - the one and only Cara Delevingne finally made a fashion week runway appearance.

Cara Delevingne dropped by H&M

Girl becomes one of the worlds biggest models, fronts every campaign going from high street to high end, is the 'IT' girl everyone wants to be seen with and has the world at her feet. Sound familiar? Well it seems that these aren't the only things in common between Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne as it emerged yesterday that the latter had been dropped by Swedish retailer H&M
after her association with that infamous little bag of white powder, in the same fashion of which Mossy was years before.

Speaking to 'The Daily Mail' a spokesperson for the brand said 'she is not a model with us, I think there was a misunderstanding that she was the face of H&M'. The news comes after the 20 year old was photographed outside her home dropping a small bag containing a white powder after reaching for her keys. H&M are renowned for their zero tolerance policy towards drugs which 'extends to the models who represent the company' continued the spokesperson.

2013 Trends

Another year is finally behind us and I for one hope that we've seen the end of some of the fashion faux pas it contained. To name but a few - clear accessories, men in UGG's, flatforms/creepers, doughnut buns and onesies, oh too many onesies!! The best thing about a New Year however? The sales are starting to wane and we can finally enter stores without fear of being stuck behind a band of bargain hagglers at the till, leaving us free to begin building our Spring Summer '13 wardrobes. Rejoice!! Which trends to buy into you ask? Well, that's what we're here to look at!

Get Graphic

Last season we had the digital print, this season we have everything from plaid to chequered to simple and monochromatic.  For designers like Katrantzou through to Holly Fulton, graphic prints rocked the SS13 catwalks. Go hard or go home with full prints and wear minimal jewellery to avoid detracting any attention.

Metallic Marvels

If you’re bored of neons and pastels, try something different this season and go for metallic garments.  As seen at Viktor and Rolf, mix a metallic skirt with a neutral coloured top for a simple yet bang on trend look.

Pencil Skirts

As on the runway at Erdem, the pencil skirt is back with a bang this season. Whether it’s leather, a blocked colour or one with appliqué detailing, the pencil skirt will add sophistication to any outfit.  Plus the way it makes us wiggle will never be a bad thing.

Sexed up 60’s

The past few seasons may have seen us all hiding our pasty legs under maxi’s, but girl’s, it’s time to get them out again with a 60’s revival.  With Moschino (above) and Louis Vuitton, to name a few, showing their swinging hems, it’s time to take inspiration from Twiggy in her heyday.

Stripes

Dispel all those myths you’ve heard about stripes making you look fat.  When worn right, they flatter everyone.  Pictured here at De La Rentas show, black and white always look best.  Stripes are a statement on their own so don’t try to be overconfident by throwing bright colours in the mix.  One of my favourites for the upcoming season, why? Because it’s effortless regardless of your sense of style.

Bored of Bikers?

Biker jackets are another piece that has stayed the course of a few seasons, yet for SS 13 it seems that designers have decided to opt for a new jacket cut – the bomber.  Known foe it’s sport styling, the bomber isn’t something we’ve seen a lot of recently, but with the vast majority of designers showing them on the runway, it’s time to get ordering.

New Romance

Be lace, floral prints or even just a pastel hue, this feminine trend is one that is always big for the summer so why would you expect this season to be any different?  Take notes from the likes of Valentino, Burberry and, of course, the ultimate delicate label - Erdem

BFA Awards: Stella McCartney Leads Fash Pack

It's one of the most prestigious nights in fashion, and it's been another great one for our fash pack yet again with Stella McCartney alone scooping awards for both best designer brand and designer of the year.

Alexa Chung came away for the third year running with the award for best British Style, the only award voted for by the public, beating the likes of VB and Kate Moss.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a major Chung fan, yet even I can appreciate the contribution she's made to our fashion, 5 years ago no one in the industry would be seen out without those killer heels, yet nowadays, even queen of heels Victoria Beckham has been seen out in 'monk shoes'.

The award for best model unsurprisingly went to 'her of amazing eyebrows' - Cara Delevingne (so amazing in fact that they now have their own Twitter page @caras_brows )whilst my personal favourite designer, Erdem won the New Establishment award.

Despite the flop that was his Topshop collaboration, JW Anderson still managed to scoop the RTW Emerging Talent award where as Sophie Hulme and Jonathan Saunders won the ET awards for Accessories and Menswear respectively.
