NYFW: Jason Wu AW15/16

Theme: 'I was kind of infatuated by global dressing and the fact that we never know what kind of weather it is'  Wu told Vogue, a result that ended in transitional pieces.  We also saw the power dressing he is so well known for.

Pallette: Starting off military like with plenty of Khakis, flowing smoothly in black before bright red hit the runway.

Accessories: Skinny stiletto heels and skinny belts aplenty.

Key Look: #31 for me.  The fur stole perfectly adds a wintery twist on the satin jumpsuit underneath.

Review:  Sleek and sophisticated tailoring was a key component with evident 60's influences such as the satin jumpsuit.  The transferable garments such as the outerwear with detachable pieces gives buyers more bang for their buck, but the crocodile matte dresses mean clients are free to over indulge. Wu is no stranger to dressing power women that much we know.  One can't help feeling, however, that Wu is playing a little on the safe side given that his previous shows have provided us with feathers and flounces.  Knowing what he is truly capable of added to the shift in his brand aesthetic this collection seemed a little lacking.

World Premiere- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Despite my opinion last week regarding Jennifer Lawrence's new haircut it seems the actress has actually made her crop work for her, showing Miley just exactly how you pull off super short, super blonde hair.  The star stepped out in London with a stunning white Christian Dior (obviously) gown, complete with a mega sequinned skirt and black pointed courts.  Simple yet effective.

My personal favourite of the night, however, had to be Elizabeth Banks in a stunning canary yellow Jason Wu dress, proving that you don't have to be a brunette to pull off such a bright colour.

NYFW: Jason Wu

Theme: 'A dialogue between construction and ease' was the headline for the show, fitting for one that combined tightly tailored and slouchy pieces.

Palette: Muted hues of black white and nude were accented with shades of mint, navy and a bit of sparkle by way of Wu's clever use of embellishment.

Accessories: A mixture of flat and heeled sandals in black and white, sunglasses and snakeskin clutch bags.

Beauty:  Cinched ponytails with sharp middle partings, metallic eyeshadows to match dresses.

Key Look:  The tank dress worn by Karlie Kloss as part of the shows finale.

Review:  A show beautifully opened with a simple gold embellished dress Wu's collection was amazing from start to finish.  Looks varied effortlessly between utility coats, jumpsuits, oversized jumpers with short and even ended with a tank dress.  Wu at his best, whilst not every look will suit every being, there is something for everyone in this collection.

Advent Calender Wishlist: Day Twenty Two

I'm not usually one for bright colours, but this Romilly dress from Jonathan Saunders is just so stunning I cant help but find myself lusting after it.  It's bright colour are reminiscent of more than one designer from the SS 2012 shows (Jason Wu, Sophie Thealett) and its print is so girly and playful that I cant imagine any female not liking it! The best bit?  There's also a matching cardigan, or is that too Stepford Wives? Get it now from Matches.

Jason Wu SS 2012

Jason Wu kicked off day 2 of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and whilst it seemed too early to determine exactly what would be the top trend for Spring Summer 2012, it appeared the Tawainese designer had decided that the monochrome look was to be a big one.

The first model of his show set the tone, walking with feathers in her hair, a beaded collar, sculpted high waisted trousers, possibly the whitest shirt ever made.  The next few models followed with outfits that took workwear sophistication to the next level.  Wu, ever known for his amazing attention to detail, appeared not to rely on bold prints but rather went for simplicity, introducing small, simple and still neutral prints.

With a front row that consisted of the likes of Lea Michelle and Anna Dell Russo, it seemed that his collection was every bit as superb as his previous ones, and then, out walked the models in beautiful pastel coloured dresses made of rich fabrics which oozed romantic innocence.

The dresses varied from full bodied gowns to simple, floaty yet playful dresses.  As beautifully crafted as ever, we'll definitely be seeing these dresses on future catwalks.
