LFW: PPQ

  6

Theme:  Seemingly another designer who has opted for a 70's theme with certain Spanish influences.

Palette:  Primarily purple and black with accents of red, green and yellow.

Accessories:  Veils, bags with bouquets sprouting from them and strapped sandals.

Beauty:  70's inspired beehives at the crown beginning with centre partings.

Key Look:  Look 5 - the flamenco skirt in a bright floral print perfectly accentuated the tight, black bodice.

Review:  Any show consisting of flamenco skirts and 70's style button down dresses was going to be a risk, in the case of PPQ it was one that most definitely paid off.  An array of totally different looks were used, from the tartan Vivienne Westwood-esque dresses complete with tulle underskirts to the emerald green halter neck maxi dress, this collection was anything but predictable.  A collection of highly versatile and wearable collections that weren't designed simply for high class events.  The polka dot two piece was on another level yet somehow it still worked.  One of the most durable collections we have seen so far with looks that are achievable for the everyday women.

LFW: Felder Felder

  8

Theme: Underwater dream - texture is integral to the show.  'We love manipulating fabrics' - Daniela and Annette Felder stated backstage.

Palette:  Aquatic, an array of blues, pearly pinks and dark seaweed green.

Accessories:  Satin shoes, silver pointed courts and even a metallic silver belt added to the underwater theme.

Beauty:  Models sported wet look hair with coral dip dye and shimmering cheek bones.

Key Look:  All were amazing in their own way but our fave was the above pearly pink number for its sheer femininity and all around gorgeousness.

Review:  The whole show from start to finish was, quite simply put, stunning.  The metallic accessories perfectly accentuated the muted palette chosen and the overall theme was excellently executed down to every minute detail.  The blue prints, which at first glance appeared to be reptilian soon resembled the image of the bottom of a pool from a birdseye view with the sun reflecting off the water.  Even the PVC inserts looked well placed (no easy feat considering, well it was PVC).

Payday Purchase: Cheeky Pants!!

I visited my sister today and was welcomed by a belated birthday card that felt a little thicker, and dare I say squidgier (is that even a word? who cares, it feels right!) than one would expect.  What do I find inside?  These beauties, a present from my gorgeous cousin in London.  The perfect gift, I loved them!!

After showing my sister, she pointed out that she had seen some similar knickers in Topshop but with a 'Toy Story' print on, something which obviously prompted me to have a little look online.  What a treat met my eyes then.

The so called 'Cheeky Pants' from Topshop will win you no awards in the romance department, that's a given.  But with this unbearable heat, coupled with the fact that I have a flatmate makes them an ideal replacement for pyjama pants!  They come in several different designs, from 'The Moomins' to 'Superman'.  Even better, they're currently on offer of 3 for £10! See below for a few of my favourite designs.

Look of the Week: Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton in a Jenny Packham dress outside St Mary's Hospital

Ok, so it isn't the most adventurous of outfits nor does it put to shame any of the outfits worn by various fashionistas across the globe, but props to Kate Middleton for choosing this bespoke Jenny Packham polka dot dress for her first appearance as a mother.  Treating us all to a glimpse of our future king for the first time, the Duchess of Cambridge teamed her dress with Pied a Terre wedges and her signature hair style.  Very mumsy indeed.

Look of the Week: Victoria Beckham

She's not well known for her dressed down style but that doesn't mean she can't still do it ten times better than the rest of us. Victoria Beckham stepped out earlier this week in head to toe black and still managed to be better dressed than me on my best day. The fashion designer was spotted in London in her signature shades, a plain black jumper, jeans and knee high boots (heeled of course!). Her oversized bag perfectly compliments her outfit and adds a pop of colour, even if it is only tan.

N.B, yes she does appear to be hugging her bag as opposed to be carrying it on her arm as the rest of us would. Is this a new trend in the making? If VB says so!

Lang Loves London

Wow, it really does seem like high end designers just cant enough of the streets of London.  So far we have had Tom Ford, Isabel Marant and Victoria's Secret announce plans to open in the capital of England.

Today, further news announced that the Austrian fashion brand is joining the ranks of fashions finest and launching it's first UK store in London's Notting Hill next month.  The store, which is to fill an 800 sq ft store on Westbourne Grove, will be the first of the brands free standing stores in Europe.  The fashion house, which is known for its minimalist yet severe designs, has said that the store will contain pieces from the A/W 11 collection against a backdrop of natural materials.

Honestly, this, coupled with Victoria's Secret's opening, I think I'm going to explode with excitement.
